Our Story: Why Under His Wings Collective Exists
Historically, premium doula care, comprehensive childbirth education, and individualized postpartum support have been marketed almost exclusively as luxury, out-of-pocket services for the affluent. Meanwhile, low-income, Medicaid-eligible, and high-anxiety mothers are left to navigate overcrowded healthcare systems entirely on their own.
Left without a buffer, these mothers are frequently treated as passive compliance cases rather than lead decision-makers. They are told to just “trust the doctors,” while silently carrying the crushing weight of fear, isolation, and the trauma of previous unsupported births.
